Chriz Tong 汤薇恩
In a recent news report, pop singer Chriz Tong was crowned as the “Queen of Theme Song”. Her repertoire includes MediaCorp TV drama serial theme songs such as:
• “Kampong Ties” (“甘榜情缘”)
• “Truth, Virtue and Beauty” (“真善美”) for the drama “Don’t Stop Believin’”(“我们等你”), which went viral, and attracted over 100,000 hits since the drama was aired
• “Coffee Love Song” (“啡情歌”) for the drama “96°C Café” (“96°C 咖啡”)

Lin Ru Ping 林茹萍
Lin Ru Ping is a veteran and popular performer for Getai (歌台), a unique live stage performance popular at Chinese festivals in Singapore. In this segment, she will host the performance by local artistes who will sing a number of Mandarin oldies. She will also share useful information for seniors in between the performance.
Charles Stitch Wong 黄智仁
Charles, better known as Charles “Stitch” Wong, burst into the scene by clinching 4th place in the reality singing competition, Singapore Idol 2009, with a unique mix of singing, guitar, and beat box.
Charles started beatboxing because he did not have enough money to buy a drum set, and even if he did, he did not have enough space in his house to put a drum set. His passion to do sounds with his mouth grew from there, and he now boasts a strong portfolio of performing and teaching experiences.
Tang Yuxuan 唐玉璇
She is a singer songwriter and backup vocalist for various artistes. She has been singing at various music cafes and concerts since 1996 and performed “細水長流” with Joi Chua and Chua Li Lian on National Day Parade in 1998.
She is a prolific songwriter and many of you may have heard her published works such as Kit Chan’s “季节”, Valen Hs’s “执着”, Joi Chu’s “看见” and Andy Lau’s “太多太多的抱歉”.
In this segment, she will present the repertoire of her very own compositions, and share her songwriting experience and music journey with the audience.
The TENG Company 鼟乐团
The TENG Company is a collective of visionary and award-winning Singaporean Chinese music instrumentalists who have come together to promote and provide for the outreach, education and awareness of Chinese instrumental music to the world.
In this segment, these talented local performers will bring to you a lively performance that integrates traditional Chinese music instruments with modern arrangement and creative presentations.
Xinyao 新谣 by TCR Music (弹唱人)
This segment features reminiscence of the well-known hits produced locally here in Singapore, the famous Xinyao movement in the 90s. Performers include the popular Deng Shu Xian, Li Feihui, as well as up and coming Xinyao singers from the younger generation.
Ling Kai 铃凯
Her breakthrough song Larkin Step, a YouTube hit with over a million views, kick-started a music career that saw her going to Australia at the invitation of Lempicka Records to record her debut EP Honestly. She then came under the wings of celebrated Singapore music producers Lee Wei Song and Lee Si Song, and released her debut album LinK in 2013. In 2014, she wowed the audience of the talent show Sing My Song with her song One Person (“一个人”), earning praise from Singapore pop icon Tanya Chua.
As the anchor performer, Ling Kai will bring her best original compositions with live band to wow the audience again.
铃凯的成名作品Larkin Step 在YouTube上点击率超过百万，她也因此收到了澳大利亚独立唱片厂牌LempickaRecords的邀约，远赴澳洲，录制并发表了个人的首张EP-Honestly。接着，她被金牌制作人李偲菘和李伟菘发掘，成为旗下歌手，并在2013年推出了首张个人专辑LinK。2014年，铃凯亮相《中国好歌曲》，凭一首《一个人》惊艳全场，获得了蔡健雅的盛赞。
About “Sharing of News Stories with Senior Citizens” session
The initiative is an outreach programme by Lianhe Zaobao and Lianhe Wanbao to share news stories with senior citizens. The objective of the programme is to keep them informed with what is happening around them as well as elderly-related policies.
Launched in August last year, this weekly programme is conducted at three venues: Blk 842 Tampines Street 82, senior citizens’ corner at Taman Jurong, and CDAC@ Ang Mo Kio.
There are over a hundred volunteers involved in this programme who consist mostly of journalists from Zaobao and Wanbao, retired journalists and teachers, CDAC volunteers, and teachers from CHIJ St Nicholas Girls’ School.
Besides weekly newspaper reading, information sharing sessions were also organised from November 2014 to March 2015 to explain to the elderly key topics such as the Lasting Power of Attorney and Will, CPF and retirement financial planning, Lease Buyback Scheme, healthy eating, and Budget benefits.
